    3. its just work and "letting things be", you can't chase these experiences, they visit of their own accord when necessary, that's all

sometimes i go through "visionary periods" and i am surprised when they occur, when they don't which seems to be most of the time, it doesn't bother me . .

    2. I recommend torrenting both of them. It's very relaxing and gives a nice view into Japanese rural life. Be sure to watch Little Forest: Summer/Autumn first and then Little Forest: Winter/Spring.

I prefer torrenting in 1080p and watching it on my HDTV through HDMI cable connected to my laptop. MPC-HC is the best program for outputting it to TV.

Movies, however, are best watched through warm color temperature, but I haven't calibrated my TV for that. I should do it in the near future.

  5. Do you agree with the advice I gave here to my friend?:

"What I've noticed is improving my diet and nutrition are the main things that help with creativity and "spark". As we age, we start to feel the wear and tear of our past actions and diet. There are certain things you can do to maintain vigor.

One supplement that empirical science has shown to have great benefit to the mind/brain is fish oil and vitamin D3. Fish oil and vitamin D3 supplementation have greatly assisted me in maintaining focus and interest. However, you must be aware they are both immunosuppresants. From my own research, I believe taking a bit of germanium can offset the immunosuppresive effects.

Omega 3/6 balance is immensely important for the mind/brain, so I cannot recommend fish oil enough. I take a high quality liquid brand. However, I have heard krill oil is better, but I am not entirely certain on that.

CDP Choline and Piracetam, both nootropics, also have research backing their uses. When I took CDP Choline and piracetam, I always felt awake with more vigor. You have to figure out what works best for yourself.

And of course, aerobic cardio (e.g., long-distance running) has been shown to have positive neural benefits. There was a recent trend of belief that anaerobic cardio was superior for health benefits (e.g., HIIT, Tabata, Circuit Training, etc.), but I looked over a recent journal article, which I have lost, that showed aerobic cardio is superior for the health of the brain. It gives a good hormonal boost that yields positive neuroplastic effects, so long-distance running is good.

Finally, be sure you sleep well. This is of immense importance. Cover all blue light before bed, and simply relax to red light, which has been shown to be better before sleep. All blue light is a stimulant, and I highly recommend you maintain a good sleep schedule. Exposure to blue light before or during bedtime can reset your circadian rhythm, I believe. When you wake up to use the bathroom, use red light to see, not any other color of light.

The enteric nervous system is implicated in emotional regulation and modulating attention. I have read evidence that the health of the biofilm in the gut can greatly alter one's focus, emotional regulation, and so forth. I recommend limiting intake of carbs because research shows it improves longevity and vigor because it has positive effects on biofilm, but I recommend perusing Pubmed and Google for more journal articles or good secondary sources. I find limiting intake of carbs and fats does, indeed, help with my focus.

I know this may be weird, but here's something that helps me but I haven't researched much: the offal of pastured grass-fed beef has certain minerals that are hard to attain in a normal diet. Whenever I ate that in the past, all brain fog instantly vanished, and I noticed a 20 percent increase in my focus. I recommend trying this out if you are not against eating meat. Also, consider how grass-fed, pastured meat has the proper Omega 3/6 ratio. It is very expensive though, so it's all dependent on your budget.

Finally, I highly recommend investing in a good reverse osmosis filtration system that remineralizes your water. Drinking tap water... is very bad...

We are biological robots. For anything involving cognitive faculties or mood, you want to focus on the health of both the "small brain in the gut" and "the big brain in the head". Brain fog is distressing, and I sometimes feel people mistaken it for apathy. Whenever I get brain fog, which occurs a lot, I cannot help but be apathetic, so I'm the kind of person that really benefits from proper nutrition and diet + exercise. The body requires a lot of maintenance and too much can go wrong with it. A depressing fact. Lately, I have not been keeping up to the demands of the flesh, so I feel like shit..."

    1. i agree with most of it except i don't like nootropics and you don't understand the "specfic" carbohydrate aspect of the scd and bcd diets !

occasional seafood is also necessary to provide essential elements and food factors !

    1. zephyr asks

"Do you agree Islam resists secularization? If so, then how does one reform societies steeped by the anti-progressiveness of Islam? "

      my reply

islam is basically a doctrine of conquest and social control of the new territories

it does that very well, but air power screws it up, where an opposing power can reach deep into controlled territory, social control fails

so its doomed, we are seeing the dying flares though it mightn't seem like that !

    2. What about Saadi and Ibn Arabi then? They were Muslims, but you considered them enlightened and progressive?

      Delete

    3. you want to research the lives of saadi and ibn arabi, they are deeply embedded in the culture and historical reality which is saadi's case consisted at one time of being a slave building castle walls for the crusaders, then being ransomed by a wealthy man to marry his ugly daughter in what was an unsuccessful marriage !

you are using the notion of "enlightened and progressive" in a communal historical context and there is no such thing !

i have continually noticed your lack of getting in depth into the necessary historical research on some of your subjects that you find interesting leaves you hamstrung with inappropriate contemporary attitudes

when you do historical research and have seen all the craziness, ups and downs and curious blend of pragmatism coupled with whatever the contemporary beliefs were, you get very sceptical !

i always research the lives in depth and the historical context of people i am interested in

religion is basically a social control structure, it could be christianity, it could be islam, its only in comparatively modern times that one has been able to live without conforming to it, so john of the cross, teresa of avila, saadi and ibn arabi all had this problem of appearing to conform to the semantics, while inwardly being quite different

how al-maʿarri survived i don't know, but actually he was aware of a line and didn't really step over it and perhaps being blind gave him more leeway !

Tassajara rakes in money ! some teachers, like Lisa cairns, do as well

    5. jason, i read one of the teachers at tassajara made a substantial donation to keep the place going, it actually ran out food because it had no money to pay for groceries

lisa cairns's payoff will come when she marries some idiot wealthy devotee, otherwise she just scrapes by i think!

its not like the old days, i really don't see any of them making much, jeff foster might be doing the best, but jesus he looks fatigued !

    11. "unemployment will reach such levels that a guaranteed basic income for all will be an absolute necessity."

No, what will happen is a lot of people will die, trying to make ends meet, in an increasingly hypercompetitive society. Society will become more hypercompetitive, as the job market's demands change, in order to compensate for technological unemployment.

There is a possibility smaller countries with more tight-knit communities will apply guaranteed basic income, but the USA's elite do not care about the well-being of their people.

    12. boston dynamics has been doing cool stuff for a while now

i haven't read much on universal basic income, i'd welcome it from what i do know !

i see problems in every career i choose, there's just sometimes better options, like in programming i probably wouldn't be happy, but with a center it's something i could be happy with just there wouldn't be much money, if any

i'd be okay being in lisa cairns shoes, traveling, enough money to feel somewhat comfortable, better than where i'm at !
